Anna and Zak met the old-fashioned way: at school. No swiping or algorithms for this couple – just falling in love at the University of Texas amidst all those libraries, museums, and of course, football games.
They wanted to have their ceremony close to where it all began, so they chose Canyonwood Ridge in Dripping Springs, a picturesque spot just outside downtown Austin known for its rolling Hill Country acreage and breathtaking sunsets. (Proud to be on their preferred vendor list for photographers)
Sun-filled ceremony at Canyonwood Ridge
Anna paired her stunning, open-back gown (by Justin Alexander) with a cathedral length veil and blue heels that matched her bridesmaids’ dresses and Zak’s polka dot tie. The ceremony took place in the afternoon when natural light comes streaming in through the chapel’s huge windows. As Anna walked down the aisle toward Zak – in his crisp, blue suit – they were both overcome with emotions. (And then MY eyes welled up like they do every. single. time.) More tears followed as they exchanged their vows in front of their friends and family, then sealed the deal with a kiss.
After the ceremony, Anna and Zack gathered everyone for photos on the great lawn. The newlyweds then joined their family and friends at the reception which was decked out with hanging greenery, olive branches, and white flowers. Each table was decorated with gold centerpieces and candles that lent an oh-so-romantic glow to the room as the lights dimmed. The live band – Zak’s only wish for the wedding – provided the perfect backdrop for the couple’s first dance and as the couple and their guests celebrated into the night.
The couple wove lots of personal touches into their wedding day and made it feel very THEM. From Anna’s sleek dress to Zak’s cowboy boots and a UT-themed grooms cake, they honored their own personal style. Guests even got to enjoy a special cocktail called “The Otis”, named for their Black Lab who opted to sit the wedding day out in favor of “his” comfy couch! (Don’t worry, Otis, we still love you!)
Anna and Zak, congratulations! I’m overjoyed for you and know you love how your photos captured the joy and laughter of your wedding day.
